Paul Graham said his family canceled Disney+ after ABC suspended Jimmy Kimmel’s show.
A movement to boycott Disney has grown since ABC, which Disney owns, took the show off the air.
ABC suspended the show last week after Kimmel joked about Trump’s response to Charlie Kirk’s death.

Y Combinator cofounder Paul Graham is the latest to join the simmering movement to boycott Disney.

Graham said Sunday his family had canceled its Disney+ subscription, joining a wave of angry fans boycotting the company after ABC, which Disney owns, suspended Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show.

“This is a way to be heard, and save money too,” Graham wrote on X.

Kimmel, 57, has been a late-night fixture for over two decades. Last week, ABC suspended his show “indefinitely” after he joked about the reaction to Charlie Kirk’s assassination by President Donald Trump’s base.

The network’s decision came after Brendan Carr, the head of the Federal Communications Commission, told Disney to “take action” on Kimmel. Nexstar and Sinclair, the two largest affiliate stations distributing ABC shows, said they would no longer air the show.

President Donald Trump applauded ABC’s decision.

Many were dismayed by Kimmel’s suspension, which they saw as a worrying crackdown on free speech and a violation of the First Amendment.

Graham describes himself as a moderate. He urged his followers on X to vote for Vice President Kamala Harris during the 2024 presidential election, but he has donated to Republicans in the past.

In a follow-up post on X, Graham said, “If there’s one thing history shows, it’s that persecuting comedians who mock the head of state is always on the wrong side of history.”

He also said he’ll be relieved not to have to overhear his kids watching “The Family Guy” anymore.
