Tesla’s Newest Set of Wheels Is a $225 Bike for Toddlers

Tesla is launching another vehicle without a steering wheel.

On Thursday, the electric automaker released a Tesla-branded, $225, pedal-less bike for toddlers. It’s called the Balance Bike for Kids.

For Tesla, the kid’s product offers parents a more attainable entry point into that miniature Tesla ecosystem — but it isn’t cheap.

Tesla’s version is more expensive than many entry-level options, which typically cost between $50 and $120. Its price is comparable to some higher-end children’s bikes, like the $250 Woom Go or the $249 Guardian Balance Bike.

Balance bikes are designed to help young children learn how to steer and balance before graduating to a traditional pedal bicycle.

The company says the push bike has five adjustable seat heights, a maximum weight limit of about 77 pounds, and a recommended age range of two to five. Shipping is set to begin in late August, and the website lists the product as out of stock.

Tesla has been launching more products built for customers who are several years away from taking out their own vehicle loans. The company already sells a $1,500 ride-on Cybertruck for kids, a $1,650 Cyberquad, children’s clothes, and an Optimus action figure.

On X, several people joked about Tesla launching a small bike before delivering the long-awaited second-generation Roadster. The electric hypercar, which CEO Elon Musk announced in 2017, has faced repeated delays, even though customers have put down deposits of $50,000 to $250,000.

“Tesla made a children’s bike before Roadster 2,” one wrote.

Tesla didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment from Business Insider.

Tesla: “sir they want the roadster”

Elon: “What’s the smallest vehicle we can make to keep them happy”

Tesla: “dunno a bike for kids here is a mockup took me 15 min to create it”

Elon: “go do it that will keep them happy a few months while we figure out this roadster thing we… https://t.co/MK1Dys6NoM
