Snap CEO: AI Will Shift Focus From Building to Getting Noticed

Snap CEO Evan Spiegel says AI is moving so fast, it’s already reshaping how his company operates.

In an interview on the “Cheeky Pint” podcast, Spiegel said more than two-thirds of new code at Snap is now written by AI. He pointed to rapid advances in tools like Anthropic’s Claude.

“Claude is transforming software development, full stop, at Snap in every part of our organization,” he said. “That’s happened really quickly. I think the rate at which these models are getting better is just extraordinary.”

That shift is starting to change how companies allocate resources, Spiegel said. As building software becomes easier, he predicted businesses like his may spend less on engineering and more on distribution — or getting products in front of users.

“I think people are going to reallocate more resources away from things like software engineering, for example, to distribution in order to grow faster,” he said.

Spiegel’s comments combine two broader trends playing out across some of America’s biggest corporations. Business Insider has reported that companies from Amazon to JPMorgan are leaning on AI to automate coding. Meanwhile, companies — including Anthropic — are investing more heavily in communications, sales, and AI infrastructure.

The result is fewer bottlenecks in code building and more competition for attention.

“It’s hard as a brand today to get visibility, to get traction,” he said. “That’s only becoming more valuable at this moment in time.”
