The recall of some Weaver Nut Company chocolate products was classified by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as Class I, the federal agency’s highest risk level.

The voluntary recall issued on June 17 warned that potential undeclared milk allergens pose health risks to some with allergies or severe sensitivity to milk.

The issue was discovered after a customer complaint revealed that a shipment misaligned with product requirements, the FDA said. A lab test later confirmed the presence of undeclared milk. That batch was sold to customers at various retail and grocery store outlets across the United States.

There have been no reports of illness caused by the consumption of the affected products, according to the FDA.

The Weaver Nut Company has taken necessary steps to ensure its products are safe throughout the recall process, the FDA said.

USA TODAY contacted the Weaver Nut Company on Friday, July 11, but has not received a response.

The following Weaver Nut Company chocolate products fall under the recall:

Risks include severe health consequences or death, FDA warns

Under the FDA’s upgraded risk classification (Class I), consumption of the recalled products could cause serious adverse health consequences or death.

Anyone with a milk allergy who purchased the impacted items should not consume them, discard them immediately and request a full refund, the FDA said.
