NEED TO KNOW

US President Donald Trump makes an announcement in the Oval Office of the White House in Washington, DC on November 6, 2025. Trump announced deals Thursday with pharmaceutical giants Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk to lower the prices of some popular weight-loss drugs. Both companies

Anti-obesity drugs would become more available to Medicare enrollees, and drugmakers would reduce the average cost of the meds to about $250 over the next two years, under new deals announced by President Trump yesterday.

The details: The deals with Eli Lilly, which makes Zepbound, and Novo Nordisk, the maker of Wegovy and Ozempic, would dramatically lower the price of GLP-1s for eligible patients. In exchange, the pharmaceutical companies will get breaks on tariffs and a sped-up regulatory process. [CNN]

Eligibility: Experts said it wasn’t immediately clear who would benefit, especially with the out-of-pocket costs remaining high. Medicare already covers the drugs for certain medical conditions but is currently barred from covering them for weight loss alone. [NBC News]

Future of weight loss drugs: Eli Lilly announced early clinical trial results of its next-generation anti-obesity drug yesterday, saying that it could offer faster weight loss and additional health benefits. The drugs, known as amylin analogs, use a different hormone from GLP-1s. Read how they work. [ABC News]

WHAT’S HAPPENING TODAY

Rosalía

Now spinning

Lux, the new album from Spanish sensation Rosalía, is out, and critics are polarized. One says it’s a “saving grace” for pop; another calls her viral single “Berghain,” with its operatic singing in German and Spanish, monumental but confounding. [USA Today/The Guardian]

At the movies

Predator: Badlands might be the ninth movie in the sci-fi action franchise, but it’s the strongest since the 1987 original, at least according to one reviewer. Look out for dark humor, a surprising amount of gore and lessons about teamwork. [Variety]

Now streaming

Get ready, Walter White fans. The first two episodes of Pluribus, a new genre-bending drama from Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan, are on Apple TV. The show recounts a world where its most miserable citizen must save humanity from happiness. [Entertainment Weekly]

On the livestream

This year’s Grammy nominees will be announced starting at 11 a.m. ET, with a who’s who of presenters, including Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan and Doechii. Here are some early predictions. Follow our live blog to see who they are. [L.A. Times/Yahoo Entertainment]

The couple separated in 1973, before reconciling in 1974. “With John, her protective walls finally came down,” her biographer, David Sheff, said. [USA Today]
