Anti-obesity drugs would become more available to Medicare enrollees, and drugmakers would reduce the average cost of the meds to about $250 over the next two years, under new deals announced by President Trump yesterday.
The details: The deals with Eli Lilly, which makes Zepbound, and Novo Nordisk, the maker of Wegovy and Ozempic, would dramatically lower the price of GLP-1s for eligible patients. In exchange, the pharmaceutical companies will get breaks on tariffs and a sped-up regulatory process. [CNN]
Eligibility: Experts said it wasn’t immediately clear who would benefit, especially with the out-of-pocket costs remaining high. Medicare already covers the drugs for certain medical conditions but is currently barred from covering them for weight loss alone. [NBC News]
Future of weight loss drugs: Eli Lilly announced early clinical trial results of its next-generation anti-obesity drug yesterday, saying that it could offer faster weight loss and additional health benefits. The drugs, known as amylin analogs, use a different hormone from GLP-1s. Read how they work. [ABC News]

At the movies
Predator: Badlands might be the ninth movie in the sci-fi action franchise, but it’s the strongest since the 1987 original, at least according to one reviewer. Look out for dark humor, a surprising amount of gore and lessons about teamwork. [Variety]
