ZANDVOORT, Netherlands (AP) — Lewis Hamilton wants to rediscover the joy of driving a Formula 1 car in a difficult first season at Ferrari.Hamilton was frustrated at the last grand prix in Hungary, calling his performance in qualifying “absolutely useless” and questioning whether the Italian team might need a different driver.Speaking on Thursday ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix, Hamilton said F1’s midseason break was a “reset” and he knows what he wants to improve in the final 10 races of 2025.“I’m just going to be working. I’m going to work hard, keep my head down, try to change a…
MONACO (AP) — Paris Saint-Germain was handed a tough start to the defense of its Champions League title with games against Bayern Munich and Barcelona, and Thursday’s draw also served up opponents from England and Spain from the pot of lowest-ranked teams.PSG’s easiest opponents, in theory, in the league phase will be Newcastle and Athletic Bilbao.Tottenham, the Europa League champion, also will play PSG in a repeat of their Super Cup game two weeks ago. PSG’s eight-game schedule is completed by Bayer Leverkusen, Atalanta and Sporting Lisbon.Real Madrid also got a challenging draw, including a trip far east to play…
A poppy-seed-sized pest is turning meat-lovers on Martha’s Vineyard into herbivores. A spike over the last decade in the island’s Lone Star tick population has led to a rapid increase in alpha-gal syndrome, a severe allergy to red meat and other animal products. The ticks, which are also on the rise elsewhere in the United States, can transmit the sometimes-life-threatening allergy with a single bite. And the condition is changing the way people eat at the popular Massachusetts tourist destination, among many other places. The chef and owner of the Vineyard food truck You Enjoy My Vegan, who goes by…

When Valerie Bertele went to The Battery for a creative writing event on Tuesday, not many people showed up. The member’s club is a hot spot for tech leaders — the same crowd that often travels over 300 miles northeast to Black Rock City for the annual Burning Man.”There were less than 10 people,” said Bertele, a VC at Yellow Rocks Capital. “The organizers were saying that we didn’t get any signups because everyone looks to be at Burning Man.”Among Silicon Valley’s upper class, many consider Burning Man an industry ritual. Elon Musk and the Google cofounders are frequent attendees.…
Kim Elliott is the founder of Gray Monster, a free weekly newsletter that launched in January 2025 for adult children who are caregivers for their aging parents. As the U.S. population faces a “silver tsunami” — a rapid increase in the number of older adults — this dramatic role reversal is becoming increasingly common. It’s something that Elliott knows firsthand. She was thrust into the world of being a family caregiver to two relatives while holding down a full-time job, becoming one of the 59 million caregivers supporting an adult with an illness or a disability — and among the…
A looming AI bubble may be about to burst. If you know where to look, the telltale signs of a correction are everywhere. While it could be too soon to say if AI is the “fifth industrial revolution” or a great way to lose money, onlookers like Nnamdi Okike, 645 Venture’s founding partner, use a heuristic to distinguish froth and foolery from game-changing advancements in AI.”One downside of the size of rounds that are happening, and how fast these rounds are occurring, is that investors are perhaps missing this idea of the business model quality,” Okike told Business Insider. The firm backs…
As the AI talent war sweeps across Silicon Valley, Amazon has largely sat on the sidelines. A confidential internal document, and accounts from people familiar with the matter, reveal why.The company has flagged its unique pay structure, lagging AI reputation, and rigid return-to-office rules as major hurdles. Now, the tech giant is being pushed to rethink its recruiting strategy as it scrambles to compete for top talent. The document, from late last year, was written by the HR team covering Amazon’s non-retail businesses, including Amazon Web Services, advertising, devices, entertainment, and the newly formed artificial general intelligence team.”GenAI hiring faces challenges…
Leave it to Deion Sanders to come up with an idea for the College Football Playoff that nobody has really mentioned yet: Pay the players for making the tournament, and pay them more when their teams win.If they do that, then “now it’s equality, now it’s even and every player is making the same amount of money,” the Colorado coach said.Sanders and former Alabama coach Nick Saban talked to The Associated Press as part of their unveiling of a new Aflac commercia l that rolls out this week with a storyboard ripped from today’s headlines: It opens with Sanders complaining:…
