President Donald Trump’s H-1B visa crackdown is putting more pressure on Big Tech and IT outsourcing giants, which are already grappling with tariff threats and other geopolitical turbulence. That’s according to analysts at TD Cowen who assessed the damage from Trump’s new H1-B visa fee over a frantic weekend. For companies like Amazon, Google, Microsoft, and major IT services providers such as Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services, and Cognizant — some of the largest H-1B sponsors — the new rules could upend staffing models. Amazon and AWS alone secured more than 12,000 approvals in the 2025 fiscal year to date, according to USCIS…

The Wall Street Journal previously reported the announcement was in the works, which the Department of Health and Human Services called “speculation” at…

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (AP) — The Ryder Cup had moments of inspiration in vastly different forms during a quiet Monday start to golf’s most chaotic week. There were tears for the Americans as they gathered on the first tee at sunrise and a strong reminder for Europe as it goes after a rare road win.U.S. captain Keegan Bradley had his entire team on the first tee before the gates open, no one in the massive grandstands that come Friday will be packed with flag-waving fans.He had Chris Mascali, a New York firefighter whose father died during the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks,…
Parents are navigating mixed messaging about childhood vaccinations from federal and state officials. The impact of the mixed messaging is being seen inside doctors offices like pediatrician David Butler’s office in Fort Myers, Florida.First-time father Brandon Gonsalves, who is also a nurse practitioner, told Butler he’s “not too sure yet” what his plans are for future vaccinations for his newborn. Gonsalves decided against vaccinating his baby for hepatitis B, which the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention currently recommends be done at birth.Last week, the panel that advises the CDC on vaccines delayed a vote that would have recommended moving the…
It takes a lot of computing power to run an AI product – and as the tech industry races to tap the power of AI models, there’s a parallel race underway to build the infrastructure that will power them. On a recent earnings call, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang estimated that between $3 and $4 trillion will be spent on AI infrastructure by the end of the decade – with much of that money coming from AI companies themselves. Along the way, they’re placing immense strain on power grids, and pushing the industry’s building capacity to its limit. Below, we’ve laid…
Nvidia announced Monday it plans to invest up to $100 billion in OpenAI as part of a deal to build out massive data centers for training and running AI models. The companies say they signed a letter of intent to deploy 10 gigawatts — enough to power millions of homes — worth of Nvidia systems to power OpenAI’s next generation of AI infrastructure. The deal may help OpenAI as it reduces its reliance on Microsoft, its largest investor and supplier of cloud computing resources. In January, Microsoft announced changes to its partnership with OpenAI, allowing the ChatGPT-maker to build additional…
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — The Atlantic Coast Conference is moving to a nine-game league schedule for football while having teams play at least 10 games against power-conference opponents, though there will be variables due to the league’s odd number of football-playing member schools.Commissioner Jim Phillips announced the decision in a statement Monday, saying athletic directors had “overwhelmingly supported” the move after “incredibly intentional” discussions about scheduling options.Going from an eight- to a nine-game model would align the ACC with its power-conference peers in the Big 12, Big Ten and Southeastern conferences after unbalanced scheduling between the conferences had been a…
