The Indianapolis Colts are wickedly good at something that’s dreadfully bad: turning touchdowns into touchbacks. For the second time in nine months, a goal-line gaffe by the Colts proved costly in a road loss when wide receiver Adonai Mitchell botched a potential 76-yard TD catch against the Rams on Sunday when he lost control of the ball at the 1 and fumbled out of the end zone.Mitchell was about to put the Colts (3-1) back in front when he was racing down the sideline in the third quarter. With no defender nearby, he started to reach the ball out as he…

CHICAGO (AP) — College student Maya Roman has the handoff down to a science: a text message, a walk to a designated site, and a paper bag delivered with condoms and Plan B emergency contraception. In Dr. Gladys Maestre, South Texas has found a national authority on memory loss. For years, Maestre has studied dementia by going door to door.”Everywhere I go, people will pull me and say, ‘My mother, my sister, I have a memory problem,'” Maestre said. The results of her study, which was conducted through the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley’s Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center for Minority Aging Research, astounded her. She found that close to 20% of people over 65 in the Rio Grande Valley have memory loss, versus around 12% on a national level. But she suspects the number is…
DENVER (AP) — Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos finally justified their head coach’s talking them up all offseason.Nix threw for two touchdowns and ran for another to atone for his end zone interception and the Broncos snapped a two-game skid by sending the Cincinnati Bengals to their second straight blowout loss, 28-3 Monday night. The Bengals (2-2) never crossed midfield after an opening-drive field goal for a 3-0 lead as Denver’s defense limited Cincinnati to a mere 159 yards of offense — to the Broncos’ 512 — and two third-down conversions all night. With 101 yards on 16 carries, J.K. California Gov. Gavin Newsom has signed SB 53, a first-in-the-nation bill that sets new transparency requirements on large AI companies. SB 53, which passed the state legislature two weeks ago, requires large AI labs — including OpenAI, Anthropic, Meta, and Google DeepMind — to be transparent about safety protocols. It also ensures whistleblower protections for employees at those companies. In addition, SB 53 creates a mechanism for AI companies and the public to report potential critical safety incidents to California’s Office of Emergency Services. Companies also have to report incidents related to crimes committed without human oversight, such as cyberattacks, and deceptive behavior by a model that isn’t required under the EU AI Act. The…
