In the summers, the sky is jet black when Raul Cruz arrives at this Imperial Valley sugarcane field to start his day. He chops, cleans and bundles the crop, taking heed as the sun rises. It’s hard work, but so is starting at 4 a.m., even though he knows it’s the safest thing when temperatures in this California desert frequently soar into the triple digits.“We just have to because we need to beat the heat,” said Cruz, who’s worked here for 15 years. They finish work by 9 or 10 a.m. to avoid the risk of heat stroke, he added,…

I’m very out there,” he said.Ring isn’t just a doorbell; it’s a home security system, which may have heightened customers’ concerns and the online backlash. “It’s like the beginning of…
(Reuters) -AstraZeneca breached the UK pharmaceutical industry’s code of practice after a website claim incorrectly stated that all newly diagnosed asthma patients aged 12 and above should receive its Symbicort drug as an “as-needed” reliever therapy, the industry self-regulatory body ruled on Friday. The Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) said the claim did not reflect national guidelines, which recommend that highly symptomatic patients or those with severe exacerbations should instead be prescribed a different treatment involving regular daily dosing plus as-needed use.The drugmaker was found in breach of four clauses of ABPI’s 2024 code, including failing to maintain high…
This as-told-to essay is based on a conversation with Kay Richards, in her 60s, based in Manassas, Virginia. It’s been edited for length and clarity. Business Insider reached out to Amazon for comment, but did not receive one prior to publishing. When my husband and I moved into our home over a decade ago, there were no data centers to be found. It was just an idyllic little neighborhood full of trees. It was our dream place.Today, there are 14 data centers within a mile radius of our home, belonging to various companies. The constant buzzing and smell of what I believe…
