WASHINGTON (AP) — Attorneys general in five Democratic-led states filed a lawsuit Thursday against President Donald Trump’s administration after it said it would freeze money for several public benefit programs, citing concerns about fraud in the programs designed to help low-income families. The states — California, Colorado, Minnesota, Illinois and New York — called the move an unconstitutional abuse of power. The Trump administration announced earlier this week it was withholding their social safety net funding. The funding went toward three federal programs, two of which focus on lifting families with children out of poverty.New York Attorney General Letitia James, who…
For the past two weeks, X has been flooded with AI-manipulated nude images, created by the Grok AI chatbot. An alarming range of women have been affected by the non-consensual nudes, including prominent models and actresses, as well as news figures, crime victims, and even world leaders. A December 31 research paper from Copyleaks estimated roughly one image was being posted each minute, but later tests found far more. A sample gathered from January 5-6 found 6,700 per hour over the 24-hour period. But while public figures from around the world have decried the choice to release the model without…

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced updated federal dietary guidelines on Tuesday, though some of the recommendations are being challenged by health experts. The Dietary Guidelines for Americans, which are updated every five years, recommended that Americans limit highly processed foods and refined carbohydrates. Some nutrition and diet experts, however, questioned other recommendations, including consuming red meat and full-fat dairy, a reversal of past nutrition guidance. They told ABC News that while red meat and full-fat dairy can be part of a heathy diet, they also can be high in sodium and saturated fats, which can raise the risk…
By his own admission, the company that Andrew Verbinnen cofounded is a vanity project — literally. It’s called HairDAO, and it was born out of a problem he and his business partner, Andrew Bakst, share with roughly two-thirds of men 35 and younger: thinning, receding hair. The cofounders, neither of whom have a background in medical science, were “selfishly obsessed with hair loss,” Verbinnen, who is 30 and has had a hair transplant, tells me. They were also frustrated because there are only two Food and Drug Administration-approved (FDA) treatments for male pattern baldness: finasteride and minoxidil. While the treatments do…
The Tin Can phone, a “landline” designed for kids, is having growing pains. It’s become so popular that its service crashed on Christmas, leaving kids upset that they couldn’t make calls on the gifts they’d just opened under the tree.Tin Can has emailed customers at least three times since the holiday hiccup with updates on fixes in the works.”Call volume on Christmas Day increased more than 100x from the start of the month, which impacted people’s abilities to set up their devices or make calls,” Tin Can founder Chet Kittleson told Business Insider. “Despite spending months and months preparing for it,…
People who stop taking GLP-1 drugs such as Ozempic and Wegovy for weight loss are projected to regain their shed pounds within about 1½ years, a review of existing research has found. The paper also found that former users of a wider list of weight-loss drugs regain weight four times more quickly than those who had used behavioral techniques like dieting or exercise. For sustained health benefits after coming off the drugs, scientists say, it is necessary to make lasting changes to your diet and exercise regime.Subscribe to The Post Most newsletter for the most important and interesting stories from The…

Jan 8 (Reuters) – Eli Lilly said on Thursday a late-stage trial showed its weight-loss drug Zepbound, used with its psoriatic arthritis treatment Taltz, improved arthritis symptoms and drove weight loss better than Taltz alone.Lilly said 31.7% of patients who received Taltz plus Zepbound met the main goal of the study: at least a 50% reduction in psoriatic arthritis disease activity and at least 10% weight loss after 36 weeks.
