Meta’s Muse AI agent is the talk of the tech world.
As you’re using the popular new AI agent, there’s an easy way to keep your questions about reservations, managing your calendar, or searching your emails to yourself
Muse offers users a way to opt out of having their data used to improve the company’s AI models.
It takes just three steps:
Click the bottom button on the sidebar and then click again on settings:

Once you’re in Settings, you’ll click on “Data Controls”

And finally, you’ll switch the toggle for “Help improve our AI models” off.

Meta also offers other ways for users to control their data. By hitting “Reset Muse,” which is on the same screen as the toggle, users can “permanently delete all information including chat history, files and active tasks,” according to the company.
You can also delete individual side chats. To do that, click the chats in the sidebar, and then the individual chat, and select “delete.”

What Meta has said about privacy
Meta said that even if users have the training toggle enabled, it takes steps to scrub user data of “personally identifiable information like names, email addresses, phone numbers and Social Security Numbers” before training on user interactions.
“We think this is a good default — every Muse user gets a better personal agent as we all collectively use the product and help the model understand the intricacies of human life,” the company wrote in a post explaining Muse’s safety features. “If you do not want your data to be used in model training at all, you can opt-out via a simple switch in Muse settings.”
Meta also said that it doesn’t share “Muse conversations or data in the user’s Virtual Machine with Meta ad systems.” The company did say there are instances where your Muse usage could affect the ads you see.
“When Muse browses the internet, it will appear as your activity, so if you ask Muse to buy a shirt from a clothing designer’s website, that designer might use your visit to show you an ad on Instagram,” the company wrote. “Similarly, if Muse makes a restaurant reservation for you or helps you find a great product on Facebook Marketplace, that may also indirectly influence the ads you see.”
Muse’s privacy offerings contrast with those of Instagram and Facebook, where Meta uses public content from adult US users for training purposes. Only users in the European Union have an actual opt-out feature.
