MrBeast said he’s considering launching a new YouTube channel focused on financial literacy.
The world’s top YouTuber separately plans to launch a financial services business.
Money is a common thread in MrBeast videos, where he doles out big cash giveaways to contestants.

YouTuber MrBeast loves giving away piles of cash. Now he wants to teach his millions of viewers how to spend it responsibly.

The world’s top YouTube creator, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, said he wants to make videos “educating people on investing and showing them what is a Roth IRA.” The content would probably live on a separate YouTube channel, Donaldson said, speaking to creator Jon Youshaei in an interview posted Monday.

The move into personal finance content may seem out of left field for a YouTuber who amassed hundreds of millions of subscribers by posting stunt videos like burying himself alive. However, money is a common theme in MrBeast videos, whether Donaldson is asking 100 identical twins to battle it out for $250,000 or locking contestants in a bunker for 100 days to potentially win a $500,000 cash prize.

Financial content “just feels like a nice fit for us because we do so much with money,” Donaldson said during the conversation.

MrBeast gave away $10 million to the winner of the first season of his Amazon Prime Video competition show, “Beast Games.” Cash giveaways were so prevalent in that series that my colleague Katie Notopoulous felt obliged to explain to her elementary-aged son that money in the real world isn’t just an “object to build into pyramids or toss around in bags.”

Launching a YouTube channel focused on expanding financial literacy could also serve as a marketing vehicle for one of Donaldson’s next ventures: MrBeast Financial.

The CEO of the YouTuber’s company confirmed earlier this month that the team plans to launch a financial services product as one of its next business lines.

While the MrBeast team has been quiet on specifics, an investor deck from earlier this year, viewed by Business Insider, listed a variety of potential services for the business, including student loans and insurance. The company would likely work with a fintech partner rather than building the business from scratch, per the investor materials.

A spokesperson for MrBeast declined to comment.
